EA P7 Transition Workshop

The transition to post primary school can be daunting for some young people, but moving to a new school can be exciting, offering lots of new experiences.

 

Education Authority Youth Service, Crotlieve Area Youth Work Team are pleased to offer limited places for upcoming ‘Moving On Up’ Transitions to post primary education programme for young people Primary 7 – Year 8 in the Warrenpoint Area.

 

Changing schools can be overwhelming for some young people. The Moving On Up programme is designed to be a fun interactive series of workshops which encourage young people to be positive about themselves & the transition to secondary education, to increase self confidence and develop strategies to manage the changes that come with moving to post primary education.

 

This programme will run Tuesday evenings in St Peters Pastoral Centre Peters Street Warrenpoint. Commencing on Tuesday 23rd May – Tuesday 27th June.

We will begin on Tuesday 23rd May with a registration evening 7pm – 8pm for information and team games.

 

The topics covered across the programme will include:

 

1. All About Me - Enhanced skills in awareness of self and enhancing self esteem.

 

2. Communication - Increased knowledge of verbal and non verbal communication and begin to develop the skills to communicate more effectively with others.

 

3. Respect - Have gained knowledge about respect, and be more able to demonstrate respect for themselves and others.

 

4. Responsibility - Explore personal responsibilities & consider own responsibilities are

 

5. Friendships – How to make friends and build new connections in your new school

 

5. Understanding of how actions directly affect both themselves and others in the family, school & friendships.
